Activities

MTUG participates in many activities throughout the year, and we host a few meetings and fly-ins of our own.  Here is a list of some of the recurring activities we are involved in.  Most of these events are open to the public, and many are free of charge.

MTUG Annual Fly-in(s)

MTUG hosts one or two fly-ins a year at various private airfields around the Middle Tennessee area.  In the past, people from as far away as Columbus, Ohio and Birmingham, Alabama have driven to the field just to be part of the events.  A couple of years ago, we even had one ultralight pilot fly his TEAM Himax from Virginia to a fly-in and back home.  The fly-ins are usually listed in the calendar sections of ultralight magazines and are announced on the Ison aircraft East Tennessee Lonesome Buzzards forum.  

Monthly MTUG Meetings

The Middle Tennessee Ultralight Group has a (somewhat) official meeting once per month.  Visit the meetings page for details about and directions to the next scheduled meeting.

Weekly Fly-in Breakfasts

Each Saturday, there is a fly-in breakfast somewhere in the Middle Tennessee / North Alabama area.  The schedule is:

• 1st Saturday of the month is Winchester TN (BCF)
• 2nd Saturday of the month is Murfreesboro TN (MTB)
• 3rd Saturday of the month is Moontown, AL (3M5) or Chattanooga TN (3M3)
• 4th Saturday of the month is Shelbyville TN (SYI)
• 5th Saturday of the month (when there is one) is Ft Payne, AL (4A9)

Most of them start around 7:30AM and end around 10:00AM, and the cost is generally around 5 dollars.  Contact the individual airports for more information.
